Arthur is going really well in his training. He started out wobbly, but after a month or so he really took to it. It was funny though, seeing him as a little puppy trying to jump over things or run... he was just so clumsy. Kept tripping over his own paws and faceplanting in the ground, or running into trees and the like. But he was really cute - no matter how much he protested to it. He really started to focus and improve once he was 6 months old. He's one year now, and so he's got another year left of training on his own. Well I say on his own, but he doesn't realise it - he has a town to protect and live in undercover (as a wolf, not human) where he will face challenges and interact with people and animals but they are all simulated. They are real to him, but they don't actually exist.
As for his training, he completed it well. I had him doing all kinds of exercises in a large variety of weather and locations. I may have pushed him a little hard at times, but I am just very conscious of the fact that his life is in my hands...if he can't do something right, then it's my fault for not having taught him properly. I'm responsible for bringing him up to standard to survive in this world and I am very afraid of failing him...since it's his life on the line. But I think he should do ok: he's incredibly fast and strong, able to outrun me even. It took a while, but he's become very swift and nimble with a remarkable sense of balance - I think there is some cat genes in his DNA to be able to run along centimetre-thick fences. That may explain the mane as well - since he's grown that out completely now. It really makes him look intimidating...as if he is huge and bulky in his front with muscle, which causes him to look strange when being so lightfooted.
Sense-wise, I'd say his hearing was better than even Alastor's, but his eyesight is only as clear as a human's (in both light and dark). His smell is better than mine, but I don't think he has much sense of taste. Or much touch either - not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Right now I'm off to go see Alastor and Julian. I want to have a look where they're up to in that case Julian wrote up about.
